What are you drawn to - pay attention to the color

Sometimes, we are just drawn to things, there is no rhyme nor reason - but we are drawn to them.  I think this fact explains a lot of the success of  "The Jersey Shore" and "Quiznos".   I mean,  the JS is just a total train wreck, but damn if I don't stare at the perma-tanned she-gnome with the elevated hair every time she is on my TV.  And I am amazed that heated sandwiches is a viable business model, but what the hell do I know.  Apparently melted processed so called cheese is a big seller...but I digress...my point is,  you should pay attention to the things you are drawn to,  to see if it is the actual item,  or the color that is calling to you.

I used to think I liked pumpkins.  I know.  Me.  Pumpkins.  Who would ever have known, eh?  Until I realized it was the color that I really liked.  And that explains the current living room color,  and the fact that all flowers need to have some shade of orange in them.

So here are a few items,  in a few different shades, and ask yourself  if it is the actual item or is it the color you react to.  Remember that your perfect color is somewhere, it exists, not just in your minds eye.  And that means your inspiration can literally be anywhere. Your jumping off point could be right in front of you. Personally I think nature has the most beautiful examples of rich colors, plus I am partial to flowers.  And how can you not appreciate flowers?
One good hint to keep in mind, most of the big-box stores have a color match technology.  So you can take pretty much anything into the paint department and someone there can mix up a blend to match your item.  I had a client once who brought in a vase to a big-box store, and they matched a certain shade of pink in it.  And you know what?  It was dead spot on - the exact match.  Another client brought in a swatch of her curtain fabric - as I said inspiration can be anywhere.
